Jerri-Ann's Testimony

I was raised in Kelowna. Age 6 walked in and found my mom dead, she died of an aneurism. Was moved around to different relatives while my dad worked until I was 12 yrs. old.

I was never in school in one place for very long. I thought my dad didn’t love me and always wanted to get rid of me. All of my family members tat I had to stay with are all into addictions / alcoholics. I didn’t have a proper understanding of what love was. In search of love I turned to all the wrong types of people. That’s when I started doing drugs and many bad relationships. At 16 I got pregnant and gave baby away.

Dad got remarried and I believed she was getting the love I should have had. So my drug addiction became stronger. By 18 I was married and pregnant again. I was clean and sober for a bit but fought with loneliness as my husband was not around much but in and out of jail. I left my daughter and went to Calgary and got mixed up with bikers and prostitution.

The health consequences of my decisions have been severe and life long.  Ended up in hospital and then into House of Ruth. I have been clean and sober for two years and am so proud of myself as I have made my connection with God ant the staff. I know that this was the turning point that has saved my life. And has shown me that I      have a lot to offer others and am thankful to be able to share my strength.
